I always strive to try different dishes from different corners of the world. I am not extremely adventurous when it comes to food as I have a sensitive stomach and it doesn't agree with too much of anything really.
When we first moved to the UK we noticed quickly that having a curry is a big thing. We went to many Indian places, had takeaways and the odd ready meals from Tesco and Co. It didn't matter how many times I requested a very mild curry it usually burned my papillae and I could not taste much of the food.
Simply put, spicy food is just not for me. I do not find enjoyment in it, actually, I find it rather painful and I have to down 10 glasses of water just not to start breathing fire like a discontented dragon.
So I have given up having curries when we go out. Instead, I make them at home so that I can choose how spicy or hot I make them and actually enjoy eating them. I do not use fresh chillies as they are too hot for my liking but use dried crushed chillies. They are hot enough for me. I bought curry powder from the UK and wasn't impressed by it. So I asked my brother to buy me some from Austria, mild flavour. And they are much nicer. I have an issue with coriander. Cannot stand coriander. Ugh! That's all I can say about it.
The next recipe is one of my staple curries. It's fast and yummy. It's a BBC Good Food recipe which I have adapted using the staples I have in my kitchen. It can be made as a quick lunch or a quick tea. Here it is.
This is the final product. Enjoy!
P.S. If you like coriander you can garnish it once it's done with some coriander sprigs.
