Today we are visiting Austrian cuisine and the very yummy Kaiserschmarren. The translation for the name would be Emperor's Mess and it gets his name from the Austrian emperor (Kaiser) Franz Joseph I who was very fond of this type of shredded pancake.
I had some while visiting Vienna last year, after a late breakfast, and it was very fluffy, and nice served warm and topped with powder sugar. This recipe is from an Austrian recipe book called "Figlmüller - Vienna kitchen. Cooking by pictures". It's a very popular restaurant in Vienna, and it tends to be very busy.
So here is the recipe from the book.
I don't like raisins so I don't add them. Raisins in cakes are just a bit yucky to me. I love eating them directly from the pack but in cakes, hell no. But if you like them, feel free to add them.
